ChargePoint and Optimus Expand Fast EV Charging Infrastructure Across the South Eastern United States

July 20, 2026 2 min read

ChargePoint and Optimus Energy Solutions have announced a partnership to deploy more than 200 public fast charging ports across the Southeastern United States. ChargePoint will provide the charging hardware, software platform, and network services, while Optimus Energy Solutions will own and operate the charging assets.

The rollout will target retail destinations, quick service restaurants, commercial properties, and major travel corridors where public charging demand continues to increase.

The agreement separates technology delivery from network ownership.

Technology and Network Operations

ChargePoint will supply the fast charging hardware, software platform, and network services. Optimus Energy Solutions will be responsible for asset ownership, site operations, and maintenance.

The model allows each organization to focus on its core capabilities while supporting larger charging deployments.

Why It Matters

The partnership reflects how public charging infrastructure is increasingly being delivered through collaboration between technology providers and charge point operators.

Operating Model

Rather than managing every stage of deployment, companies are specializing in technology, infrastructure ownership, and operations. This structure can simplify deployment, improve operational accountability, and support long-term network management.

Commercial Deployment Strategy

The focus on retail centers, restaurants, and commercial destinations aligns charging infrastructure with existing travel patterns. These sites offer established customer traffic, available parking, and sufficient dwell time for fast charging.

Executive Takeaway

The ChargePoint and Optimus partnership illustrates how charging infrastructure projects are being structured around specialized roles instead of vertically integrated ownership. As charging networks expand, partnerships that combine technology providers with experienced operators are becoming a practical approach to deploying and managing public charging infrastructure at scale.
